My Story:

In 1993 Richard Leach was diagnosed as a diabetic. Eventually serious problems developed, including numb feet  and bladder problems. The open wounds that appeared on his feet and legs that would fail to heal, rendering him unable to walk or run.  Richard was prescribed insulin injections.

In November 2006 doctors extracted bone marrow from Richard’s hipbone. The cells were then re-injected by angiography. In other words, a small catheter was placed in the artery of his leg and directed to the pancreatic artery, where the cells were injected. In contrast to the bone marrow extraction, the re-injection process was not entirely painless -- it hurt just a little bit.
Richard noticed significant improvement two months after the cells were re-injected. At night his blood sugar levels dropped dramatically. Today he needs to take 40% less of the slow release insulin and 60% less of the immediate release insulin.
