My Story:

Thea is a bright, active six-year-old child who unfortunately suffers from a very debilitating form of epilepsy. She has had to suffer through hundreds of small epileptic seizures every day. These seizures have damaged her brain. To try to repair some of the damage, Thea's parents decided to bring her to Beijing for stem cell treatment.

The most obvious symptom of Thea's brain damage was her inability to communicate. She would mumble or make sounds when trying to talk, or point, nod or shake her head. Although her parents could understand her, it was difficult for others to make out what she was trying to say.
Because she had constant seizures, she’s had to take a lot of different medications. Her thoughts would constantly be interrupted, which made it difficult for her to focus. She was unable to use numbers well. Thea could run and play like other children, but her daily routines were interrupted over and over by medication and seizures.

Theodora was treated with four stem cell injections via lumbar puncture, plus a nutritious stem cell cocktail treatment, which was given intravenously.

During Thea's stay, she became more vocal. She attempted to put words together into a sentence and she could say, "thank you very much" instead of just "thank you.” She even picked up a few words of Chinese while she was there. Thea seemed able to focus more on what people were saying and to pay attention to her surroundings. Her attention seemed
Bigger improvements will not be visible until around three to six months after treatment. Her parents are hopeful that Thea will develop faster than she has done in the past, and that her condition will continue improving.
